A Step Towards Smarter, Efficient and Technology-Driven Orthopaedic Practice

A half-day CME on “AI for Orthopaedic Surgeons”, organised by the PCOA academic Team for its members, was successfully conducted on 4th October 2026 at the auditorium of SaiShree Vitalife Hospital, Wakad.

The hands-on workshop was expertly conducted by Prof. Preeti Mulay, who introduced participants to nearly 25 powerful and innovative AI tools with the potential to transform the way we work, learn, research, and deliver patient care.

The session explored the practical applications of AI in academic and research activities, including preparation of presentations, literature reviews, keeping abreast of the latest advances, and scientific paper writing. Equally valuable were its applications in day-to-day clinical practice, such as data analysis, clinical documentation, preparation of summaries, OT notes, and discharge summaries.

Attended by 42 PCOA members, the workshop was highly interactive, engaging, and informative, offering participants an opportunity to move beyond theoretical understanding and experience the practical utility of AI in their professional lives.

Adding a valuable clinical perspective, Dr. Benny Jose, a leading cardiologist from Jupiter Hospital, shared his personal journey and experience of integrating AI into patient management, clinical summary preparation, and OT documentation. His presentation beautifully demonstrated how AI, when used thoughtfully, can become a powerful assistant in improving efficiency and streamlining clinical workflows.

The workshop concluded with much more than an introduction to new technology. It sparked curiosity, encouraged exploration, and opened our minds to the immense possibilities of artificial intelligence in modern medical practice.

The CME may have come to an end, but the journey into the world of AI has just begun!
